Kalastaðir eru einungis í 55 km fjarlægð frá Reykjavík og þangað er fært allt árið. Frá tilkomu Hvalfjarðarganganna er lítil umferð um fjörðinn og því afskaplega friðsælt hér. Náttúrufegurðin er mikil og frábært útsýni. Frá Kalastöðum er víðsýnt og útsýnið nær inn og út allan fjörðinn.

Við eigendur Kalastaða höfum búið hérna frá 1980 og erum þriðji ættliðurinn sem situr jörðina. Hér var áður mjólkurframleiðsla en í dag erum við með nautgripi og hesta.

“Our best summervacation ever”

„I was an overall great experience, the location and the kindness of the owners was tiptop. Our kids are still today talking about our trip to Iceland and really hope that we are going back to Kalastadir next year. The cottage was clean and the kitchen equipped with everything, we needed. The owners were very helpful in regards to the all the questions, that we had in regards to sightseeing spots and the history/culture of Iceland. The open, wide surroundings, so close to the water with the seals coming up in the afternoon was perfect . We had several days, where we were only at the cottage/ in the nearby area because the location of the cottages (and it cosiness) made it possible to relax and still experience the real Iceland with all its varieties without going very far. „

“Nice and calm Cottage away from tourist crouds”

„We spent 7 days in this nice cottage, away from tourist crouds. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. We loved the beach with the seals and the Hot Pot on the terrace!
Reykjavic, the Golden Circel Area and Snaefellnes are reachable by car. Even if you have to drive a few kilometers more, the nice and calm environment compensates for that by far. Very good for both – relaxing and sightseeing!“

“Great View, Great Cottage, Great Location”

„We stayed three nights in Cottage 1 early in October and had a fantastic stay.
The property is immaculately kept and has all the creature comforts of home for your stay. We stayed as a family of three (2 adults and a 14 month old) and enjoyed it as a base to explore Snæfellsjökull which was a great full day trip to explore.
The farm which the property is on is beautiful and we explored the shoreline to find some friendly seals bobbing up to see us.
The owner was very helpful and friendly to us throughout our stay.
We would recommend this property to stay in, it was a great start to our week long trip to Iceland.“

„This beautiful cabin was the highlight of our Icelandic vacation. It’s remote enough to feel alone, but close enough to town and the Golden Circle to make day trips easy. We absolutely loved the location – the sweet beagles who’d check up on us every morning, the ponies who visited us and kept us entertained and the AMAZING scenery. Brynja was a kind and gracious host who made sure we had everything we needed. Top marks all the way around!!!“

„The perfect place to stay if you want to have a relaxing holiday in the most spectacular setting, or to use as a base for the many great outdoor activities and attractions near by. My partner and I stayed for three nights in this cosy cottage and absolutely loved it. The cottage was very clean, warm & cosy. The views over the fjord and snow covered mountains are amazing. Watching the northern lights over the fjord whilst relaxing in the hot tub is a memory we will never forget. We stayed here in late January so the roads were lovely and quiet and snow was on the ground. Brynja & her husband were very welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend staying here if want some peace and quiet and enjoy the great outdoors.“

„We stayed here for three nights at the start of our honeymoon. The level of communication with Brynja prior to arriving was second to none and she went out of her way to ensure that we were prepared and well looked after. The cabin is located not far from the main ring road #1 and is easily accessible and also remote enough to satisfy all needs. The cabin was warm, clean and the amenities well suited to our needs. The views were spectacular with some amazing sunrises and sunsets. We would definitely come back again and spend more time here. After we left the cabin we drove all the way south to Hofn staying in a few places along the way, but this cost cabin remained our favourite place. Thank you Brynja for a lovely stay and we hope to see you again one day!“

Sumarhúsalóðir

Sumarbústaðahverfið Birkihlíð er í landi Kalastaða í Hvalfirði, einungis 55 km frá Reykjavík. Kalastaðir eru norðan megin í firðinum og landið liggur í móti suðri. Svæðið er kjarri og bláberjalyngsvaxið og útsýnið er frábært inn og út fjörðinn. Þarna er skjólgott og sólar nýtur frá morgni til kvölds.

Við hönnun svæðisins var lögð áhersla á að lóðirnar væru stórar og fallegar. Einungis er leyft að planta íslenskum gróðri til að tryggja samstætt yfirbragð og ótruflað útsýni. Húsin verða að falla að náttúrinni, viðarlitir og svört þök.

Fjölbreytt afþreying er í boði í nágrenninu. Golfvöllur og veiði í Svínadal (ca. 5 km), sundlaug er á Hlöðum (ca. 2 km) og Akranes (ca. 20 km). Í Hvalfirði eru einnig margar fallegar gönguleiðir, t.d. Leggjabrjótur frá Botnsdal yfir til Þingvalla og Síldarmannagötur úr Hvalfirði yfir í Skorradal.
